Forever And A Death

After the success of the movie Goldeneye, the producers approached noted crime writer Donald E. Westlake to come up with a script for the next movie. He wrote a treatment about a Western tycoon unhappy about being forced out of Hong Kong when the Chinese took it back. Apparently it was too political and the producers passed on it. Years later he turned the idea into a book and some time after his death, Hard Case Crime published it.

It is not a James Bond book now, of course, but it almost is.
